Lauren Fox’s Send for Me splits between pre-war Germany and present-day Wisconsin. Annelise, a young woman in prewar Germany, works at her parents’ popular bakery and imagines a future full of possibilities. As anti-Jewish sentiment rises, Annelise and her husband are given the chance to leave for America, but they must go without her parents. Two generations later in Wisconsin, Annelise’s granddaughter, Clare stumbles upon a trove of the letters her great-grandmother wrote from Germany after Annelise’s departure.
The book club meeting will be held outside the main East Entrance at CBINT. In the event of rain, it will be held on the promenade.
